Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. —Matthew 6:9
- Attributes of God—Omnipotence, Omniscience, Omnipresence, Eternity, Immutability, Goodness, Justice, Love, Mercy, Holiness, Triune, Sovereignty, Creator, Transcendence, Self-Existence.
- Prayer Life—O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch. (Psalm 5:3, ESV)
Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. —Matthew 6:10
- Change—Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Thessalonians 5:23, ESV)
- Growth—But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. (Galatians 5:22–23, ESV)
Give us this day our daily bread. —Matthew 6:11
- Provision—Give us this day our daily bread, (Matthew 6:11, ESV)
- Courage—“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? (Matthew 6:25, ESV) And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, (Matthew 6:28, ESV) Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ (Matthew 6:31, ESV) “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. (Matthew 6:34, ESV)
- Stress Tolerance—from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I, for you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy. (Psalm 61:2–3, ESV)
- Strength—But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (2 Corinthians 12:9, ESV)
And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. —Matthew 6:12
- Intake Discipline—So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31, ESV). For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. (2 Timothy 1:6–7, ESV)
- Eye Discipline—“I have made a covenant with my eyes; how then could I gaze at a virgin? (Job 31:1, ESV)
- Thought Discipline—We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, (2 Corinthians 10:5, ESV)
- Word Discipline—Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. (Ephesians 4:29, ESV)
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. —Matthew 6:13
- Today—“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it. (Mark 8:34–35, ESV)
- Future—And the commander of the Lord’s army said to Joshua, “Take off your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so. (Joshua 5:15, ESV)
