Your statutes have been my songs in the house of my sojourning.” (Psalm 119:54, ESV)

When I played basketball in high school, we had a warm-up song. It was our anthem. Every time we warmed up in our home gym, Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” blared from the blown-out public school speaker system.

Disciples of Christ can have better anthems. The Scriptures can serve as our songs. The psalmist said, “Your statutes have been my songs.”

As we move through life, we need words from the Word. We need treasures from Scripture. We need the great doctrines of the Bible as we sojourn on earth.

Each day, get a word from the Lord. A line, a word, a doctrine, or a chapter can be your meditation all day long. They can be songs you sing, anthems you hear, as you move through your days.

And when the Word of the Lord is your jam, you’ll find the strength you need to win the game.
